Billboard Latin Music Week, the longest-running and biggest Latin music industry gathering in the world, continued the festivities with more exciting conversations and groundbreaking discussions on the second day of the 35th anniversary celebration at The Fillmore Miami Beach. The day was packed with dynamic panels and thought-provoking discussions, showcasing some of the most influential figures in Latin music including Peso Pluma, Belinda, Grupo Frontera, Yandel, Young Miko, and more!
Fans were thrilled to hear from Peso Pluma during the Nuevo Mexicano: Peso Pluma and Friends panel, where the superstar was joined by some of the most exciting artists in the new Mexican music movement, Fidel, Jasiel Núñez, Junior H, and Tito Double P. During the panel, Peso spoke for the first time live about his musical origins, his creative process and the importance of having close friends in his life.
Peso also made an appearance the previous evening at the Billboard’s Latin Music Power Playersevent, where he surprised the crowd by presenting the Executive of the Year award to his manager, George Prajin (see video HERE). He gave an emotional speech thanking Prajin for his tireless work, saying, “All the doors that you have opened for us, and all the things that you have done so that we can have an opportunity to show ourselves as greats before other exponents of music and the industry, have been very important not only for me and for you as a person, but for an entire country, an entire generation.”
Young Miko took the stage for a special Superstar Q&A, where she shared insights about her artistic journey and the future of Latin music. When asked if she considers herself the artist of her generation, she admitted that the title makes her nervous but expressed her hope to be the kind of artist she wished she had seen growing up—one who stays true to their origins. Her biggest advice for new artists was to have patience and stay disciplined.
Day two also featured Latin Music Week’s signature Women’s Panel: Global Rising, presented by Ulta, which brought together a powerhouse lineup of female global stars who have made their mark on the Billboard charts. Panelists Bad Gyal, Belinda, Danna, Debi Nova, Mon Laferte, and Zhamira Zambrano discussed their career journeys, the challenges of being women in the Latin music industry, and how they overcame them. Speaking on female alliances in music, Danna said, “They are important and necessary. We talk to each other and the world moves. Being able to turn around and know that we are colleagues and not competition […] We are making a very big change. Women are taking charge of everything.”
Earlier in the day, Grupo Frontera participated in the traditional Making the Hit LIVE! session during which the chart-topping band created a brand-new song on stage in just 40 minutes. The song, unofficially titled “Ya No,” was written in advance by Edgar Barrera, while the band’s signature cumbia sound was created and produced live on stage. Grupo Frontera closed out day two of Billboard Latin Music Week headlining Billboard En Vivo, presented by Smirnoff Ice, with Majo Aguilar opening the show at Wynwood Marketplace.
